An authentic French restaurant in north east central belt of Scotland- the only one I know, and I have been visiting here since the late 1980s. It never disappoints - it's a piece of the best of France as an oasis. Now you can visit the new museum across the street before your visit to make a day of it.
A wonderful experience at Cafe Tabou to clef rate our 47th wedding anniversary. From the moment we entered to the time we left the ambience, service and food was outstanding. Thank you to everyone that made this experience so memorable. The French style cuisine was delicious from the fish bisque and pigeon starters to the baked hake and guinea fowl main courses. We even had a dessert, which was unusual for us and accompanied the starter and mains with delicious wines.
This restaurant is fantastic. It was really busy and that's a good sign it's good. I started with the fish and seafood bisque and it was the nicest iv ever eaten and even better than in France. My main was a med/rare fillet and the steak just melted, cooked to perfection. My pudding was a white chocolate creme brulee with a spiced pear puree and biscoti. This restaurant knows how to cook food. I will definitely be coming back to perth to eat at cafe tabou.
The food was , as always, absolutely delicious. Staff are do friendly , efficient and helpful.
We particularly like the fact that there's house wine rather than having to pay over the odds for a good wine with your meal.
We went to cafe tabou in perth for my birthday meal. We had chateaubriand for two. It was excellent. Need I say any more? No. But I will try.
This is a French restaurant. The house wine is Spanish. It was fine, but Spanish!
But now I'm really looking for faults. There were none.
I noticed a review here mentioning 'lack of attentativeness'. Well I can categorically say that we were treated with great attention. Just right.
In summary, a very good choice for my birthday meal. We will be going back to this place.
We love going to this restaurant, such a treat. Difficult to choose from menu, set 3 courses for £32 or a la carte. Great menu, fish, chicken, veggie, beef, pork all superb. Wine fab too.
Only one of many return visits to Cafe Tabou. We can’t ever visit Perth and not dine at Cafe Tabou. Food … amazing … delicious! Service friendly, efficient and simply outstanding.
Two very satisfied customers and we’ll be back … again !!!
Came back here again for a lunch catch up with a friend. Had an amazing plate of guinea fowl with haggis croquette on a bed of green lentils and veg. It didn't look too filling but it certainly was. Followed by flaming crepe suzette
with sorbet, then coffee. Nice place, good staff, great food & excellent company. Already looking forward to our next catch up here. 😁
Love this place so much this was our 4th visit.
Feels like finding a hidden gem down a cobbled Paris street.
Service is brilliant. No sooner through the door when a lovely server comes up to greet you and shows you to your table. Water placed on the table, drinks order taken and delivered shortly after. Cozy atmosphere with tables huddled together but a polite distance from others. No fuss, just efficient and professional.
Unquestionably, the food is the absolute star here. Which is why we keep returning when in the area. It never disappoints and every course is simply delicious. Great value, good portions.
Always seems popular with folk from every walk...youngsters, gatherings, couples, retirees...everyone enjoying what must be, a Perth institution.
Wonderful as ever. Long established as the best in the area and our absolute favourite.
Quality of food and serve unsurpassed.
If I can make one and only criticism it was the special Valentines cocktails on offer. Very nice and beautifully presented as expected. But timing was a little off as weren't served till after starters arrived.
No need to add on pre dinner extras as the normal offer is of the highest quality every time.
My wife ordered a dessert that didn't suit her tastes. Not a fault of the food. But the restaurant gave something else, amazing crepe suzette, without question or charge.
The sign of a great restaurant that care about their customers experience.
Will undoubtedly return. Vive la Cafe.
