A Joyful Return
What a delight to revisit the sacred Viralimalai Murugan Temple after decades! This lovely temple was previously inaccessible to me due to the daunting climb. However, thanks to the tireless efforts of the former Health Minister, Dr. Vijaya Bhaskar, and the Tamil Nadu Tourism Department, a road now reaches the hilltop, making the journey much easier.
Easier Access
Although there are still around 20 steep steps from the parking lot, the railing support provides reassurance. Moreover, work is underway to install a lift service from the parking lot, which will further enhance accessibility. Once completed, senior citizens and others will be able to visit this sacred site with greater ease and comfort.
5 stars excellent hotel delicious breakfast great pool, Xavier took wonderful. Good care of me at the swimming pool. I got VIP service which I really like. The hotel lobby is very spacious and comfortable. The restaurant on the seventh floor serves an excellent breakfast of everything you could possibly want the rooms are very comfortable. There is a nice fan, which gives you a lovely breeze, and it is not too cold. The hotel is busy, obviously very popular and a very central destination to all the restaurants and sites.
Nice Small Temple on Hill Top. Clean and Neatly Maintained. Walkable distance from Viralimalai bus stand. Path to the temple is on the main road itself.
You have 3 ways to visit the temple from Main Road.
1. By Temple Road, which directly leads to the temple
2. By Steps. (From Main Road. Steps are little steep and old people may
find it quite difficult)
3. By Steps. (Next to the Temple Road. Steps are similar to the second
path in Palani Temple. Not very steep and easy for old people to climb)
Not much eatables, staying options available near the place. So plan
accordingly. No other means of transport available. Autos may be willing to come. People can use their own vehicle also.
Visited during a week day and hence crowd was less. Not much shops available except a few shops selling pooja items.
Peacock sanctuary was closed during my visit. Don't know why.
Temple pond available near the road leading to temple. Lots of TRASH items floating in the Pond.
Beggars and Monkeys menace in the steps, but manageable.
Will visit again.
