点评:Our travel group was staying in downtown Tromsø and were itching to finally see the Northern Lights after striking out in Finland. We asked the friendly concierge at the Clarion where she would go as a local if she wanted to see auroras, and she recommended going to Prestvannet Lake, so we decided to head there as a budget friendly option instead of opting for a tour and potentially paying to strike out again. From where we stayed, it was about a 20 minute taxi ride to the front of the park uphill, so we were glad we didn’t walk. We heard they appeared there the previous night around 7pm, so we got there around 7:30pm. Surely enough, they reappeared again briefly around 8pm. We then were suggested by other travelers and locals to head to the back of the park where it was much darker, and even onto the lake itself since it was frozen over. At around 8:30pm, the aurora came back even more brilliantly than before and we got some great shots of her for an hour with less light pollution from the back of the lake. Granted, we went during peak solar season and had great fortune with the weather and clear evening skies, but I very much recommend coming here if you’re on a budget but want to chase the Northern Lights. Just make sure you’re able to call a taxi to get back to town after you’re done, because it can be a very long and slippery walk back.
