As a factory it started operating in 1927. It has been a successful exporter of most of its products, especially to the United States of America. Ever since 1930, Rogaška products have been available for sale in the American chain Bloomingdale’s.
The history of glasswork extends much earlier, however. The first Slovenian glass-melting furnaces began working in 1665. Today they employ over 860 people. With so many decades of knowledge their products are prestigious and of outstanding quality.
Since I came here by bicycle, I couldn’t buy any pieces but I wished I could have. So many amazing items to choose from. So few things are still handmade with so much care and expertise. Worth a tour, guided or not, of this facility.
