点评:When we arrived at the Slave River Site there were painting along the exterior wall depicting enslavement, and eventually freedom. As we entered the site we met our tour guide Kwame. He explained, that this area during the transatlantic slave trade served as the largest slave market in the Central Region of Ghana. It was at this site where slaves took their last bath, and were made presentable before they were marched to Elmina Castle to wait to be transported to Brazil, the Caribbean, and the United States.
As we walked to the river we were asked to remove our shoes; however, those of us who had issues with blance or foot issues could keep on their shoes. Once we entered the water, for those who wanted to, I became very emotional and broke down and cried.
As we were returning to the bus, there is a souvenir shop and directly across from the shop is the Wall of Return where you can leave a message. I would highly recommend this site to visit.
