点评:Very interesting to visit this museum ferry that made its last voyage in 1988 between Honshu and Hokkaido and was then retired to Aomori. Ferries were one of the primary means of travel between both places until 1988 when the Seikan railway tunnel opened. We were only able to partake part of the interior tour, the steps and tight openings too challenging for old legs. The promenade deck has an exhibition of photos that that describe the people and culture of Aomori Port. Other areas exhibit model ships and paraphernalia associated with the ferry service. We had to bypass the cabins, engine room and similar areas, these required youthful legs. The exterior of the site has a remnant of rail track leading to the hatch at the rear of the ship; this was where the trains/carriages entered for the transit across the strait, the hold spacious enough to transport 48 railcars on four tracks. There are also a number of monuments; monument to the War Damage of the Seikan Ferry, Tsugarukaikyo Fuyugeshiki monument and a couple that I have been unable to identify.
