Enjoyable time at ballpark
PNC Field的点评
点评：Can walk around the concourse, but not the outside. The interesting thing, though, is that to the left of the main entrance, just past the team store, is where the home team has their workout room and batting cages. There's a window where you can watch them take batting practice, and if it's a hot day, the door to the workout room may be open and you can watch them lift weights. There's a barricade at the sidewalk in front of the workout room doors, but walking in the lot is OK.
Continue past the workout room and you can see adjacent to the ballpark and the season ticket holder parking lot the station where the trolley comes in. There's a clean Port-a-Potty on the station platform.
When I went, IIRC, the netting hadn't been completed on the third base side. And of course, sitting on the first base side, most of the foul balls went into the third base seats. As for home run balls, the only chance of getting one is if they land in the right field lawn area. There's an off-limits batter's eye in center field, a small lawn area to the left of that (although you can get third out toss-ups from there), and then both bullpens. There's a walkway slightly above the bullpens, so any home run balls hit to left field has a chance of landing there. Then, continuing left, is the Kost Pavilion, usually gated off because it's reserved for groups.
It's a weird layout. But somehow it works. I like being able to completely walk around the ballpark, and there's a kids' area of inflatables in back of the batter's eye as well as a "hit the ball off the tee" in back of the Kost Pavilion.
Oh, and while the park is cashless, the $7 parking fee can be paid with either cash or card. Usual ballpark prices for food. Guest Services is in what is best described as the foyer, a section between the ticket-checking gates and the gates of the ballpark. I asked about First Game Certificates. The answer was "Not this year," whatever that means.
