* An essential ingredient to a successful London "visit"
* Massive humongous intercalated and functional rail service- going everywhere
* Fantastic efficient quick and frequent service- every 2-3 minutes during rush hour and less than ten minutes at other times
* Inexpensive with daily cap of payment if using one type of payment on multiple sa *
* Easy and simple fool- proof payments with contactless credit card (including from smart devices)
* Escalators everywhere, but sometimes steps too
* Friendly clearly identified and marked uniformed staff workers everywhere- always at least one person at each and every turnstile entry and exit point- always
* twenty four hour service
CONS
* It is just about always crowded
* The screeching of the trains is horrendous
"I VISITED THIS PLACE"...
... because it is an essential and best way to traverse the city, and because I simply love the trains- both watching them and traveling in them. I certainly immensely enjoyed my experience- it was great.
I went everywhere on the underground without thinking for a moment, knowing that is was quick and efficient, and there was a price cap allowing for no-cost travel after that is reached on any particular day.
The platforms at times were incredibly crowded but I know how to protect my stuff, so I was OK.
Much/most of the time and journeys, I stood- sometimes it was quite crowded. It was uncommon that I had a seat.
WAS IT WORTH THE COST?
Absolutely- it is very efficient and simple and not expensive if one uses the same card or device of payment, since there is a daily cap of costs
WOULD "I VISIT THIS PLACE" AGAIN?
For sure!!
ADVICE
* Use the tube "early and often"- it's incredible and efficient and inexpensive
* Use a contactless credit card or portable device
* Beware and cautious of the crowds (even though I never saw nor heard of suspicious criminal events)- keep your stuff safe and secured and out of sight
* Be prepared for jostling and standing
* Be prepared for screeching noise from the trains
* Be sure to "mind the gap"
