点评:I had been told by friends (who had recentlyvisited Iceland, but who had skipped the Blue Lagoon) that this place was little more than a tourist trap/heated swimming pool). They advised visiting one of the several other thermal spas at other location in Iceland. I am glad that I did not heed their advice.
I did visit one other such thermal spa during my trip, and my personal opinion is that my friends missed the beeter experience. The Blue lagoon was easily three time larger than the other one I visited, and while there were a very large numer of tourists here, the advance reservations ( a requirement) for a specific time slot limits the number of people to a comfortable amount of visitors during that time. It was actualy less crowed due to its large exapanse, that the Jardbotin Natural Thermal Baths that I later visited at Mývatn. I enjoyed both, but if I had to choose one, I would still choose the Blue lagoon.
My ticket (purchased online), included a 5 hour visit time slot ( I only stayed for 2 and a half hours), bus transportation from Reykjavik city center to a central bus station where I was directed to a shuttle, which then continued on to the drip off point at the Blue Lagoon entrance. The ticket also one included drink wile in the the lagoon ( I had a local Icelandic beer. served in a plastic cup, so no worried about broken glass. I purchased a second beer, later, at the swim up bar). I took along my own travel towel, so did not need to rent one there, but towel rental service is available. They provide a token to use with their small clothing storage lockers (located in the shower room. It actually snowed briefly while I was in the lagoon, but the water was comfortabley warm enough that the snow was not an issue. There was also a hot tub area with hotter water. There were no Northern Lights occuring during my time in Iceland, so no views like that. The only extra thing I would advise is to pre-arrange a taxi back to your hotel, if you are uncertain how long you will want to stay. It is possible to return to the city with the shuttle and the bus, but only at a very few set times, so you have to keep an eye on the time and allow sufficient minutes to get out, shower, dry off, get dressed and be outside to meet the shuttle. There were no waiting taxis when I came out, like I had expected, but I got very lucky and managed to snag one who was dropping off a vistor who arrive in the middle of their own time slot. If you have rented a car, transportation is not really a problem; there was plenty of parking.
The 2024 vocanic eruptionns which resumed a week after my trip to the lagoo, aparently detryoyed that parking area, and after the lagoon reopened 2 and a half months or so later, arrival was rerouted to a ferry system, but I am guessing, it will not take long before the cooled lava is billdozed, and a new parking lot put in place. A few more saftey closures occured during shorter eruptions since then, but as of this writing, the baths had reopened.
