点评：Wow, after reading the 2 previous reviews, perhaps another point of view is warranted!
I found the trip, the people, the accommodations sufficient.
We were aware that we were forbidden to go to the Blue Hole a reef in Belize, due to the regulations by the government. In addition, my spouse and I have been snorkeling in the Blue Hole, as well as the marine preserve, Ho Chin. They are absolutely amazing, but in a completely different direction than where our itinerary was set, from the beginning. If one was wanting that experience, it could have been purchased by companies that provide such trips, for an added cost. I did not expect to see these areas, as i was familiar with the country. It is true we were in shallow water at times, and we navigated carefully through these areas. It was truly a great experience to watch the first mate and captain navigate these areas with communication and skill.
One thing that being on a boat has taught me, is that the captain cannot control the weather, such as wind and humidity. The captain can assure our safety and reasonable comfort.
If snorkeling and seeing fish are important, it is suggested that swimming is a skill set. Gliding over reefs, rocks, eel grass, currents of the ocean can be a challenge. If you can't swim, glass bottom boat tours are available! Agreed, the snorkle equipment was less than the best. But we had stuff. Also, there was a fellow who came by in a boat, offering to take people out for a snorkel trip at a small cost.
I saw the women go out, so good for them!
As far as being advised of the daily plans, we were all advised that boat captiains would discuss the plans, concerns for the day. We all sat around the radio to get the 10 4 on the plans for the day. If one chose to get up late and miss that, then it is your responsibility to gather the information. We found the women to be great for the most part. I think if someone wants more of a large group dynamic, perhaps a cruise ship would be better, as it is inclusive, generally, except for flights, and excursions to other places.
We have done the cruise ship environment and don't care for food borne infections, and a cattle call like environment.
In addition, as far as cleaning the rooms upon leaving the boat, all that we were asked to do was roll up the 2 sheets and pillow cases and leave them at the end of the bed, so that the cleaning crew could gather for washing. Oh, and you had to pack your stuff to leave!
I have to admit that the charter company did not prep adequately for this trip, to the consternation of the Captain. What would have been an alternative?
Having been taught that one has to be flexible in certain times, it sure can be tough with some things that get in the way. This was one of those times.
Regarding the dinghy that was malfunctioning, the Captain dealt with the situation as soon as she was made aware of the problem. One has to be prepared to manage situations like this when far from basecamp.
I had an ADVENTURE a lifetime as I met the most amazing women, shared laughs, and tears upon leaving.
It WAS truly, a most memorable experience.
