Bryggens Museum - Bymuseet i Bergen的点评
点评：My first visit to Bergen and it was wonderful - the history of this place is incredible and it shows a resillience and determination to build a port and keep it flourishing. We spent time wandering from the docks where our ship had docked for the day, into a wonderful tapestry of buildingsm, stories and folklore. The Bryggens museum was a real find, (think York if you've been) they built the museum OVER an archaeological site that had unearthed several years of Bergens history which , lets face it, was based around destruction by fire, plague, fire , fire and fire again - but a great story to see and the museum tells it wondefully with great displays, artifacts and tremendous amounts of personal people details (especially with the carved runes - incredible)
Cafe culture is alive and well, they keep the Norway love of coffee at the forefront of daily life, and the people are some of the friendliest and welcoming we have ever met on our travels. (Very kindered with us Scots!) The information around the buildings, the restoration of the city and the modern feel and flow of getting around is easy and relaxed. There are so may things to see and experience that our cruise day trip was not enough and we plan to go back for a weekend break.
I'd suggest the museum obviously and any of the coffe shops and bars, food was fantastic, atnosphere terrific and shopping was ok, 'touristy' but welcoming and not as expensive as everyone makes out.
The place reminded me of a 'condensed' Ediburgh with a hint of York too, so if you like these places, but want to rack up the energy levels by 50% - get to Bergen! A seriously interesting, laid back and welcoming place!
