点评:We drove up from Taupo for a day hike (adult and two ~10 kids). The day was absolutely free - no fee to enter or park or visit the visitor's center. The visitor's center is nicely appointed (bathrooms, video about volcanic areas, lots of geology and ecology info). We chose to do a 2-hour day hike, and it far exceeded our expectations - the path was easy to traverse (any water crossings had a little bridge), it ws not especially rocky or slippery, and there was an even a little bathroom at the mid-way point for multiple trails! I would have loved to do another one or two of the day hikes, which are well sign-posted, but decided to quit while we were ahead since my kiddos were feeling accomplished and happy. The hike was also gorgeous - views of the volcanoes, lots of plant life, different views throughout (e.g. forest, water, more brush, etc.) We'd highly recommend taking a day to check this out, especially mid-week and in shoulder seasons - it was not at all crowded (late Nov, mid-week) and everyone was friendly and helpful. We'd recommend checking out the geology exhibit in the visitor center before you set out so you'll be able to recognize various types of volcanic rock on your hike. We're eager to go back and enjoy some of the other national parks after enjoying Tongariro.
