点评:This is a Dutch-themed amusement park in Northwestern Kyushu. Thrill seekers should look elsewhere as while there are some rides and attractions here there are no extreme attractions such as roller coasters. It’s more about the music, food, art, experience, and performance art here, There are quite a few shows/events and standard seating is included with admission so I suggest checking one out.
I went in late winter from about 1pm to nighttime. The park opens at 9am but I don’t see any need to arrive so early. From arrival the park was not crowded at all and I could jump in to any attraction or restaurant I cared for. In the evening attendance really goes up and for good reason. The illuminations are really nice at night. This could be a great date idea in the evening and a nice family outing regardless of time.
There is a Huis Ten Bosch app and it is worth getting to help plan your day and navigate the park.
The park is fairly spacious around 380 acres. There is a harbor and Palace Huis Ten Bosch in the back. You technically have to exit Huis Ten Bosch to get to these areas and you’ll need to have your admission ticket to get back in and return to the main park entrance/exit. The Palace also requires your admission ticket to get into the grounds. There is a small gift shop in the palace but you can’t really go anywhere else inside of it. You can walk around the grounds for a bit but there isn’t much else to do that far in.
Those traveling by train on a day trip should be aware that the JR Huis Ten Bosch station is a small station that goes unmanned late at night. If you need help from staff buying tickets then do so during the daytime as likely there will be no one there if you leave the park after all the events are done.
You can tell that a lot of heart and effort went into this place. To be totally honest I would not plan a trip to Japan specifically just to go here however if you are already going to Kyushu/Fukuoka/Nagasaki then I would try to make time and visit.
