Oheka Castle的点评
点评：As a Long Islander, visiting Oheka Castle has been on my bucket list.
I finally made it and was impressed by the grounds and footprint of the building. Once inside, I was surprised to find that it is essentially a restored mansion with none of the original furnishing or artwork. In fact, I found the decorative art of poor quality, some furniture in need of repair and the mansion itself lacking character. This would explain why guests are free to roam the castle at will. There really isn’t anything of value to harm.
Our docent was informative and clearly devoted to Oheka. She was the one bright spot of our experience.
Afterwards we had lunch at the restaurant and once again, I was disappointed. I ordered fish tacos, which were $27. I was served two small tacos that were tasteless and so flimsy I could not pick them up to eat them. My friend ordered the risotto which had the consistency of dry rice pudding. She took it home and a doggy bag .
I cannot remember a worse lunch.
Perhaps a summertime experience may be better.
