Starry, starry night impressed me
Port Macquarie Observatory的点评
点评:We were lucky to arrive on an ‘open’ public night, and additionally lucky to get clear skies. The centre is modest in size and doesn’t look too modern … but don’t let that put you off. The volunteer boffins know their stuff and are very willing to provide answers to queries at the most relatable basic level or technical terms depending on your knowledge. There was a presentation by a very knowledgeable presenter who didn’t disappoint and looked just like the way movies depict scientists and he had the whole flowing silver locks look happening (quite sexy). It was a PowerPoint slideshow for the attendees whilst waiting for their turns to look through the telescope. Very informative.
During the slide show a chunk of meteorite was passed around with a volunteer able to answer questions as it was held and marvelled at by every person attending!
One small thing was that the audience chatter (a few families attended) and movement to and from the telescope made it a tad difficult to hear the dialogue accompanying the slides.
