点评:Our first stop at Yosemite Village was at the ranger station. We stopped here to buy postcards and ask the ranger when the Tioga Pass would re-open the day before Veteran’s Day. The ranger, Cindy Hall, was very helpful calling a different dept. to get that answer for us. She found out they were in fact going to re-open it at that moment! A minute later, an announcement was made on the P.A. to that effect and the room erupted in a round of applause. Ranger Hall then went on to recommend when we should leave, etc. Very nice, friendly and helpful park ranger!
We bought lunch and a couple beers at the Village Store since the Village Grill was closed. The selection of postcards at the ranger station are prettier (and cheaper) than at the store. There’s also a post office at the village if you need stamps.
We enjoyed the Ansel Adams Gallery and saw a movie about Yosemite in the theatre (a bit hidden). We also visited the Indian Cultural Exhibit which was a replica of an Indian village with dwellings and interpretive signage. It was very interesting and informative. The wind was rustling and the fall leaves were literally “raining” from the trees. It was a beautiful, serene setting.
