点评：What a random experience this was. We went to the pub as it was freezing outside and we wanted to warm up. It looked inviting from outside. That soon changed. I ordered a pint and was asked to remove my hat as they have a no hats rule. I felt practically told off! As it happened a lady walked in behind me also wearing a hat. I pointed and her and asked the women who served me if she was going to ask her to remove her hat? I was told it was a gentleman’s rule. What a crock and how sexist! Why would you have such a pathetic rule in the first place and why on earth would the nonsense rule only apply to blokes? I’ve subsequently read other reviews where men have been told to remove their hats and that it felt like the server (maybe landlady) was on a total power trip. I couldn’t agree more. I have been asked once before to remove my hat but this was in a very posh golf club, not a random boozer in Newport Pagnell. I subsequently spent the amount of time it took to consume the pint Googling if removing hats from bars is actually a thing. It isn’t. As a top tip for whoever might read this review, telling someone to remove their hat and that the rule only applies because of my gender is neither welcoming or going to make anyone want to stay / come back. The whole thing felt quite belittling and my Mrs also couldn’t believe it. It’s also worth mentioning that I had only just entered the pub and it wasn’t like I was going to sit there in my beanie supping on my pint! I would have removed it anyway the moment I sat down. There are plenty of options in Newport Pagnell where you can buy a beer so avoid this one and try another. If by any chance the pint puller does read these reviews then you might want to re-think such a nonsense rule and maybe think about how you speak to customers or even better, don’t have a stupid rule that only applies to fellas. Utter madness.
