点评:My wife took me to Blowing rock for my 58th birthday. Unfortunately, the weather was wet and foggy so we were unable to enjoy the views. I reviewed the Chetola resort separately. I would like to say this was our experience and it is accurate for the few days we spent in Blowing Rock.
The first thing we experienced is the complete lack of parking. It was an exercise in frustration finding a place to park. Not a good start for sure. However, once parked we found the town cute and friendly, and with enough shops to occupy a good afternoon of browsing. Eating in town however is a true exercise in frustration. When we first arrived we drove around town looking for parking and I couldnt help but notive all the Inn's, Lodge's, hotels, and of course the resort. So many rooms so few restraunts. Expect to wait a long time or hear "reservations are required" before you sit down for a meal. Also the resources of this small town appear stretched to the max to accomadte so mant tourists. In our 2 day restaruant experince we heard this phrase often: "we are out of quiche", "we are out of soup", we are out of ketchup", we are out of mushrooms", we are out of meatloaf", "we are out of vanilla vodka (for the advertised drink special vanilla martini)".
I thanked my wife for the gesture however Blowing Rock although cute and I’m sure scenically beautiful is well "over touristed" and not on our list to return to.
