点评:Made the trip with a 2017 kia soul and a 2019 honda civic. Had no issues with either one, but wouldn't do it with tires near end of their life. 22 mile road in is relatively smooth and will take you an hour with plenty of low spots where water gathers after rain. The few miles to the campsites/parking within the park are a little more rough but again, no problems with our cars. Just go slow and easy. There is a newer bunkhouse to rent out that I believe also has a shower and restroom. This is also located right next tot he head quarters.
There are new clean showers and restrooms with flushing toilets near the check in. (2 rooms, each containing one shower and one toilet) No trash containers anywhere in the park, including the restrooms.
Hike to the water once you park is on a rocky dirt road with a some hills for almost a mile. There is an outhouse style toilet right before you reach the water, which was also very clean. I only brought a cooler backpack and my fishing gear. Would not recommend chairs/wagons or anything of bulk unless you really think you want it. A towel is fine and there's plenty of rocks to sit on. Saw a few people wheeling their kayaks and while it's doable, I would just had no interest in putting that much effort knowing I'd have to wheel it back on that rocky road.
Once you reach the water, you will most likely want to walk to the right to find the springs and swimming spots, which is another half mile or so, up to a full mile where the park boundary ends.
We arrived in the afternoon the first day and planned to make trip to the water the following morning. Beware of the weather. There is no cell service or ability to check a radar on your phone. The first night there, a nasty storm with severe lightning/hail/wind blew through and leveled our tents. Many spots on the road were filled with water. We were still able to drive through them the net morning back to headquarters with the civic and kia to ask the park employee about a weather update for the second night. He told us was forecasted for the same chances of severe storms. Another employee had made the drive in on the 22 mile road and said a spot was already about a foot deep with water and if it rained like that again the second night, we would be stuck unable to get out the next day. We made the decision to still go check out the river but to leave the park by early evening.
We were in campsite 4. It's pretty close to main road and had a mid size mesquite tree which provided a little bit of shade. Also had a picnic table with cut cedar over the top acting as a shade as well. We had a high of near 90 and it was hot but tolerable. I think it would be brutally hot here during late summer and do not think I would visit then.
As for the river, it was very murky due to the storm the night before, but we were still able to get in, wade around, and do some fishing. The springs coming out of the mountain were very clean and felt great.
All in all, it was a fun experience, but would probably not want to do it again.
