点评:Firstly, the mountain this lake sits in is not called ‘Fire Mountain’ for nothing and although it is technically named after its last eruption in the 1600’s, it keeps the name primarily because a lot of the time it is prone to being covered in low lying cloud, and if this is the case then it’s not worth the trip.
Secondly the view of the lake from here is stunning, but the parking is not great. It’s much easier to park at the Miradouro da Lagoa do Fogo further down the road.
And thirdly, and this is the big one, the EN5-2A on which this viewpoint sits is restricted at certain times of the year ( I believe June to September) for anyone without a guiding permit, and this was definitely the case in August when we visited, when other tourists in hire cars are not permitted to use the road after 9.00am and you have to park in the car parks at the bottom on each side and take either the red or blue shuttle busses to the lake viewpoint’s ( charge of 5euros). And as the busses only run every 30 minutes you can imagine how chaotic could possibly be in high season
